About Us
The popular food chain of the Northeast, OK Chicken, was established by Ngangom Nongthon along with two friends in 1963. However, due to certain issues, his friends parted ways, and Mr. Nongthon retained the name ‘OK.’
OK Chicken began as a small eatery, serving tea and meals from 1967 to 1979 on BT Road near Imphal Talkies. In 1980, it was relocated to GM Hall and reopened as a canteen. Currently, it is situated on MG Avenue in Imphal and has recently expanded with a new outlet at Ulubari, GS Road, Guwahati.
Over time, tea was removed from the menu due to space constraints. Additionally, Manipuri people tend to prefer lunch over breakfast. Some of the most popular items on the menu include Chak, Chicken Curry, Chicken Fry, and Chicken Roll.
The recipes at OK Chicken are prepared in a simple style, using ginger, garlic, and onion. However, a special type of spice, AP's Guntur chili, and high-quality oil are used to enhance the dish's color and aroma.
